Meet The Team

João Ducci moved to Los Angeles, CA from his home-country of Brazil at fourteen and began his dance training at eighteen, at Santa Monica College. He went on to train at Yuri Grigoriev School of Ballet on full scholarship and earn two BFAs in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of California, Irvine. João has studied under Charlotte Griffin, Dante Puleio, Kate Skarpetowska, Tong Wang, Diane Diefenderfer and Seda Aybay to name a few. He has performed works by Lar Lubovitch, Donald McKayle, Jennifer Backhaus, Tommie-Waheed Evans and DIAVOLO among others. He has also worked as a freelance dancer with Ballet Project OC, C. Eule Dance and Fuse Dance Company. While at UCI, he premiered several of his own works and was a recipient of the Excellence in Dance Choreography award. He is certified in Pilates by Diane Diefenderfer | Studio du Corps and is an instructor with Pilates on Main OC. João just finished his second season with Backhausdance, and will be returning to his Alma Mater this fall to pursue his MFA.

Emma Andres is a dancer, choreographer, photographer, and studio artist based in Southern California. She graduated from UC Irvine in 2020 with a BFA in Dance Choreography and a minor in Literary Journalism. Emma is the Studio Manager and Resident Choreographer for Pasadena Civic Ballet. She has been working with Pasadena Civic Ballet for the past 5 years and is currently in the process of becoming a Ballet Teaching Artist for the Music Center in Los Angeles. Emma is currently developing a ballet centering around the book Little Women. The project is site specific and will be performed throughout Los Angeles County. These projects are meant to come together later on as a full-length ballet. This project will be a loving tribute to Louisa May Alcott and will pioneer a move towards more ballets that center on women and their stories.
